Milton Centre Expansion Update The projected completion time is summer of 2020. As more information is shared with us from the Halton Catholic School Board, we will post it here.
Milton Centre The Milton centre was licensed by the Ministry of Education on December 11, 2019. We had a perfect licensing. Our Program Advisor spoke highly on our teacher to child interactions and our documentation. "The centres' program statement says that "our educators follow pedagogical documentation, whereby they make daily observations, then use the information to build onto the existing activities, to enhance their learning process." In each program room there is a white board with the educator's observations. These includes stories, pictures and links to ELECT. The boards are updated on a regular basis when additional observations are made. These stories really paint a picture of what is happening in the program room."
"The program advisor observed positive interactions between the teachers and the children throughout the morning. The children have a variety of materials to choose from including loose parts, dramatic play area, sensory and a variety of learning games. The teachers sit with the children and are actively involved in their play. The teachers also get down to the children's level when speaking with them."
Oakville Centre The Oakville centre was licensed by the Ministry of Education on January 24, 2019. We also had a perfect licensing. Our Program Advisor wrote the following on our summary sheet: "In the centre's program statement it states that "the teachers engage the children during play, listening, responding and encouraging dialogue to expand their play. We take their cues and enhance the classroom activities, allowing the children to build onto their own knowledge." In the before school program as well as the preschool room the program advisor observed the teachers interacting positively with the children. Teachers make observations, engage the children in conversation and also allow the children to be independent. The program advisor observed the teachers asking the children open-ended questions and allowing the children to think for themselves. There are a variety of materials in the program room that enhance the children's learning such as loose parts, sensory activities as well as recycling materials."
