pr34_wait_list.pdfThe Family Place is a non-profit child care organization founded by four members of the community who were concerned about the lack of support for families in North Halton.
The Milton child care centre opened in 1982, in a Seniors Residence. The original scope was to care for Toddlers and Infants, while supporting their brothers and sisters in a Preschool program. The relationship grew with the seniors into a very warm blend of ages. This multi-generational program won the Margaret Fletcher award for innovative child care.
We moved to our present location at Bishop Reding High School in Milton in 1994, when construction began on the Seniors Residence. Our program continued with the seniors, but on a reduced basis. Everyone quickly settled into a new routine that included high school basketball and trips to the cafeteria for chocolate chip cookies.
Currently, our Milton centre provides care for 41 children. In the Fall of 2019 we will be expanding at the same location. We will be increasing our occupancy by an additional Toddler room and eight extra spaces in the Preschool room.
In 1995, we opened our second child care centre. This time we opened in an elementary school in Oakville, Heritage Glen – and we are still here providing care for almost 157 children from 2 years to 10 years of age. Our long history of child care in Halton gives us the background to understand and meet the needs of a growing and diversifying community. Testing
